LANGSTONE SAILING CLUB CRUISER RALLY 2024

(Last booking date for this rally is the 16th April)

Hosts for the event Peter and Angie Dixon

A total of 12 berths have been booked for the first LSC rally of the season and what better harbour to sail to than the very

popular Yarmouth Harbour, stopping off on the way at the Folly Pontoon

So why not join Peter and Angie for a shake down 4 day cruise in company sailing down through the Solent.

Can't get the time off work, not a problem, why not join us for the weekend (only) for drinks on the pontoon and a meal in company at the Folly Inn.

As with all rallies you have the option to shorten or lengthen your stay and once again with this rally there is the flexibility to tailor your passage to your own requirements, for example sailing directly to Yarmouth and not stopping off at the river Medina.

The rally programme is as follows:

  • Saturday 11th May to Sunday 12th MayThe Folly Pontoon, River Medina, Cowes, either walk ashore pontoon (first 9 booked boats) ormid-river pontoon Tide Chichester HW 14.42 BST leaving for Yarmouth on the Sunday 12th May)

The Folly Pontoons are situated 20 minutes from the entrance of the river Medina providing access at all states of the tide, with the facility to raft 3 deep on the walkashore (9 boats only) and additional berthing mid river. This quieter stretch of the river Medina is designated as a 'Site of Special Scientific Interest' (SSSI) and there are some beautiful walks to be had, walking North or South along the river, so why not take a visit to St Mildred's Church, Whippingham, and picnic on the meadow overlooking the river Medina.

There will be drinks on the pontoon from 6.00pm and dining arrangements have been made at the Folly Inn for 7.30pm.

  • Sunday 12th May to Tuesday 14th May Yarmouth Harbour Marina - Tide Portsmouth HW 15.28 BST (leaving for Home or Haslar Marina on Tuesday 14th May)

The beautiful Yarmouth Harbour lies on the Isle of Wight's northwest coastline and acts as a gateway to West Wight's Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, providing walk-ashore access to Yarmouth town.

And on your sail down, why not drop in and anchor off for lunch at Newtown River, probably one of the most natural and unsullied anchorages in the whole of the Solent area.

There is plenty to see and do in Yarmouth - explore some of the many special walks in the local area such as the Western Yar Estuary Circular Walk or the Robert Hooke Trail. There will again be drinks on the pontoon at 6.00pm.

No dining arrangements has been made for the Sunday evening, giving skippers the flexibility to make their own arrangements.

Dining arrangements have been organised for Monday 13thMay (should you wish to join) at The Bugle Coaching Inn at 7.00pm.

  • Tuesday 14th May - Tide Chichester HW 17.04 BST Leaving for home.

For those wishing to break up their journey, you may wish to contact Haslar Marina directly to book a berth.
