History of the club

The current Langstone Sailing Club was formed on 23rd March 1946, although there is mention of a Langstone Sailing Club in the Portsmouth Evening News Press Archives as far back as 1903. This is because club sailing had largely ceased during the period of the two world wars.

As can be seen by the timeline below, our history is a long and proud one. Over the years, the club has strived to live up to the original members wishes that it would do its best to encourage as much sailing around the neighbouring harbours as possible.

As we look back at our storied past with pride, we know it is only the beginning. Every year we continue to build on our legacy, with the goal of making sailing accessible to all.
