Dinghy Racing
Please check the online Calendar for details of all Racing events.
Spring, Summer, Autumn and Evening series are all held at the club together with mini-series, LSC Regatta, Bart's Bash and other one-off events.
Newcomers are encouraged as no prior race experience is required, but please ensure you have the competence to cope with the forecasted weather. Experienced Juniors are also encouraged to race as long as they have adult supervision.
Start times are shown on the online calendar but please allow plenty of time to rig and launch.
Races are held in Chichester and Langstone Harbours. The venue and course may be changed/cancelled at the discretion of the Race Officer depending on weather, wind strength and direction. Please check the LSC website calendar for updates. Race briefing is held approximately one hour before the race start.
Races generally last 90 minutes. On days with more than one race, the races will be shorter. Average lap calculations may be used to determine the result.
RYA Racing Rules of Sailing apply and the Portsmouth Yardstick (PY) system is used for handicaps.
For details of Class flags, starting sequence and timings, please look on the Dinghy Racing page on our website.
Other Clubs around Langstone and Chichester Harbours host their own Regatta's and Open events. Please see relevant websites for details.
More experienced racers may wish to participate in the Langstone Harbour Race Weekend and Chichester Harbour Race Week.
Start times and dates for all these events are shown in the online calendar HERE and the LSC Wall Calendar.
If you have any sailing queries, please contact our Sailing Secretary sailingsec@langstonesc.org.uk .
Also feel free to come down to the club when we have a race scheduled and talk to any of the racers, but be aware that they may be under pressure to get ready prior to a race!
