LSC NEW RIB Humber Destroyer 5.3
Published 15:06 on 13 May 2024
Its been a long time coming but LSC have just taken delivery of the new club RIB !!
It is a
Humber Destroyer 5.3 with a 60HP Suzuki outboard, configured to meet our multiple requirements for supporting club events.
Slightly bigger than our previous RIB, but as easy to handle, the new boat will support
our RYA dinghy training and coaching programme, club racing and social sailing, our Junior activities as well as our RYA powerboat training.
It is currently undergoing final fit-out and engine running-in and will shortly be available to support club events.
Being roomier inside it is a more capable and safer boat than the old one - and can be configured with 2 or 4 jockey seats to suit our different events (seats side-by-side making communication far easier in the boat).
In 2 seat mode it has plenty of room for carrying race marks and other equipment, in 4 seat mode it is ideal for powerboat training and carrying 4 people safely.
The space in front of the console is now suitable for entering/exiting and providing assistance to dinghies from the bow.
It can still be launched and recovered by hand by 4 people and fits on the existing trolley in the boat garage.
Although we got a significant discount off list price, it is an expensive piece of kit and needs to be looked after carefully!
All drivers will need a familiarisation session for the new boat - this is being developed with our experience during the running-in and details will be announced imminently.
