Published 22:53 on 19 Jan 2022
Good morning all,
As we start to think about the approaching sailing season. I am pleased to see that the RYA's environmental programme (The Green Blue) are holding webinars on Sustainable Anchoring & Moorings. These look informative in getting to know our harbours better, the importance of seagrass and what is being done to preserve and expand it and how we can maybe help a little by considering how/where we anchor.
The 3 webinars below are focused on the Solent Maritime SAC (special area of conservation) and aim to provide an insight into the project, the importance of sensitive seabed habitats and how the recreational boating community can be part of helping to safeguard these habitats through anchoring best practice and the use of Advanced eco-Mooring Systems (AMS).
Webinar Content:
- An introduction to the LIFE Recreation ReMEDIES Project
- Why marine habitats like seagrass are important and under threat
- Anchoring best practice and Advanced eco-Mooring Systems (AMS) to help safeguard seabed habitats.
