Motor Homes and Camping at LSC
Published 18:06 on 22 Jul 2025
The committee has been asked what our position is regarding camping and motor homes on club grounds. The answer to this question depends on the time of year.
Firstly, Motor Homes and Camper Vans are welcome at the club if they are being used as the vehicle that you use to get you and your equipment, to and from the club.
This article addresses overnight stays either camping or staying in your Motor Home or Camper Van. (For this article, please assume that the same guidelines apply to Camper Vans as for Motor Homes).
If you want to stay on club grounds overnight, we have guidelines for the different club seasons.
- Summer Season When dinghies are in their summer spaces
During the summer Camping and staying in Motor Homes is welcomed when you support recognised club activities such as Junior Week, Langstone Race week, Club racing or you'reout on the water. It is also acceptable to stay on your Motor Home or camp to support club social activities (e.g. Band nights, parties etc).
If a Motor Home or large van is left ashore while you are out sailing, a club car park sticker, must be visible and the vehicle must be registered on your profile on the club website.
When you have returned from sailing or the club activity you support has finished, a single overnight stay is acceptable, but we would expect your Motor Home to be taken away after this time.
- Lift In /Lift Out Periods
During these periods parking at the club is limited and camping is prohibited. Motor Homes are prohibited from the club site, unless advanced agreement has been received from the Rear Commodore House.
- Winter Season - When the cruisers are ashore
During the winter there is no space for camping and due to potential demand for parking careful consideration of parking Motor Homes must be made. Cruiser owners often move heavy items to and from their car. If you need an overnight stay, consider staying on your boat instead of bringing a Motor Home on site.
Members who park on site should be available to move their vehicles on request, during the hours of 9.00am to 4.00pm, just in case we need to use the hoist to move boats around.
