The General Committee has Vacancies

Including

Elected Committee Members to serve on the General Committee.

Rear Commodore House to manage all the shore facilities.

The Autumn General Meeting is on 21 Oct 2022. At this meeting the membership elects the General Committee (GC) to manage the club for the next twelve months. There are posts that will become vacant as the current incumbents complete their term of office or move on to other activities. The GC currently consists of the four Flag Officers, up to four appointed members, the Treasurer and up to six elected members. To provide opportunity for others, at least two Elected GC Members stand down each year, creating vacancies. If you wish to contribute to the success of the club with time and energy, please consider being nominated as one of the Elected GC Members or, to be nominated as The Rear Commodore House.

Elected General Committee Members

The General Committee meets face to face at the Club, or remotely, on the second Monday evening of every month except August. Members are expected to attend as many meetings as they can and these usually take about two hours. Elected Members will have the opportunity to volunteer for tasks appropriate to their experience and interest and may be offered a specific role, which could potentially continue after they leave the committee. All General Committee members are Directors of Langstone Sailing Club Limited. If, as we hope, more than 2 members become nominated for the General Committee there will be an election of all Elected members.

Rear Commodore House

This is a new role identified as a result of a study on the governance of the club appropriate for the future. The Rear Commodore House will be part of the senior management team and will be responsible for every element of the club's buildings and site. The intention is that all the elements of the club's buildings and site, for which the Rear Commodore House is responsible, will be delegated to other members who will report through the Rear Commodore House to the General Committee.

Other opportunities

There are numerous other opportunities to support the club ranging from small simple tasks to more complex tasks requiring special skills. If you can and wish to do more for the club just let the Commodore or Secretary know and they will help to identify appropriate tasks. Managing tasks for the club can be satisfying and enjoyable.

All management tasks undertaken by members will be recorded as one or more duties completed against their annual commitment.
