Hosts for the event Trevor & Sharon Holloway

The end of August / beginning of September is always a great time to be out on the water with generally more settled weather and predictable winds, giving skippers the opportunity to bag the sail of the season. So why not join us for a 5-day rally sailing in company down through the Solentstopping off at Shephard's Marina for 1 night (should you wish) and then onto Yarmouth Marina for 2 nights, leaving on the 1st September for an overnight stay in Haslar Marina(should you wish) returning home on the 2nd September.

As with all rallies you have the option to shorten or lengthen your stay and once again with this rally there is the flexibility to tailor your passage to your own requirements, for example sailing directly to Yarmouth and not stopping off at ShepardsMarina etc.

The rally programme is as follows:

  • Tuesday 29th August - Shephard's Marina - West Cowes Tide Portsmouth HW 11.02 BST 4.34m (leaving for Yarmouth on Wednesday 30th August)

Shephard's Marina is an access at all states of the tide marina, located just inside the river Medina offering good berthing facilities and creating the opportunity to raft together in one area. The marina location gives easy walking access to West Cowes and its sailing shops, bars and restaurants.

There will be drinks on the pontoon from 5.30pm although no dining arrangements has been made, giving skippers the flexibility to make their own arrangements.

  • Wednesday 30th August to Friday 1st September Yarmouth Harbour Marina - Tide Portsmouth HW 11.42 BST 4.62m(leaving for Haslar Marina on Friday 1st September)

The beautiful Yarmouth Harbour lies on the Isle of Wight's northwest coastline and acts as a gateway to West Wight's Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, providing walk-ashore access to Yarmouth town.

There is plenty to see and do in Yarmouth and why not explore some of the many special walks in the local area such as the Western Yar Estuary Circular Walk or the Robert Hooke Trail. There will again be drinks on the pontoon at 5.30pm, followed by dinner at The Bugle Coaching Inn at 7.00pm.

  • Friday 1st September Haslar Marina - Tide Portsmouth HW 12.56 BST 4.92m (leaving for home on Saturday 2ndSeptember)

For those wishing to break up their journey, berths have been booked at Haslar Marina.

No arrangements have been made for dining, but the Castle Tavern Pub is only a short walk away.

  • Saturday 2nd September - Tide Portsmouth HW 13.38BST 4.95m (Leave Haslar Marina and return home)

Please note that there will be a requirement to raft in Shephard's and Yarmouth marinas.

As the hosts of this event we will not be able to join those boats who decide to stop off at Haslar Marina on the way home
