Wild Goose Chase (probably a pursuit race)

18th July, 14:30 - 17:00

Wild Goose Chase Pursuit Race. The start for the very slowest boat allowed is not expected to be before 2.30pm. Langstone Harbour. Please sign on AND off here (you MUST sign off for safety reasons - if you do not sign off your result may not count).

Joint event with Locks and Tudor Sailing Clubs. Start near Langstone Harbour entrance so allow time to get there against the tide. This year it is expected to be run as a pursuit race where boats start at intervals according to their Portsmouth Yardstick handicap number (PN). A list of planned start times will be published here a few days before the event. The number displayed on the committee boat will be the PN for the next start. Slower boats start first, followed by the faster ones, the theory being that all cross the finish line together if sailed to handicap. First across the line at the finish time wins. The race aims to be approximately 120 minutes long for the very slowest boats (shorter for faster ones).

Northney tide: 15:41 4.76m
