I would like to try to kayak around Hayling Island
Does anybody else fancy this?
I would need the help of someone more experienced than myself
I seem to be averaging 5 miles at the moment but am tryin to build up

There are a lot of options for this – for example you can go over a low tide from LSC (giving you a minimum of 7 hours and the opportunity to stop along the way) or over a high tide (giving you around 5 hours). Starting from LSC over low tide means you will have the tide with you, doing it over a high tide means you will be paddling against the tide both in and out. If you start from the Hayling seafront then over a high tide you will be paddling with the current – so easier. How much of a challenge do you want ?! If you want safety cover there is an organised round-Hayling event in aid of the RNLI and firefighters – this year on the 5th Aug. Entries are limited, look for Hayling RIKE. Alternatively keep posting on the forum when you want to go and practice and hopefully others will reply. There are some paddlesport meets in the calendar which are informal – there is one tomorrow but forecasts of thunderstorms so not sure how many will turn up ! No reason you can’t propose other dates, the calendar dates have been chosen in most cases to finish as the bar opens…

Thanks for the information
I would want to start from LSC as that is where the kayak is and I do not have a roof rack – so the RIKE is problematic for me
I thought I would go out on the high tide in a clockwise direction
I am guessing the prevailing wind is from the East towards the West so I would get the best assistance along the Hayling Island sea front
I would probabbly be grateful for a rest at some point before the tide turns and I can get swept into Langstone Harbour….
I managed 6 miles the other day but I get tired and really relied on the wind to bring me home
